30 weeks and no colostrum

Hi all, feeling a bit stressed that I haven't had any spontaneous colostrum leakage at 30 weeks, and when I try to express in the shower (just to see if it's possible) nothing comes out. I'm worried as I have GDM and really keen to get some colostrum ready in case baby's blood sugars are low after birth.

Was anyone able to express colostrum despite not getting any spontaneous leakage? When did it start coming in? Any tips for colostrum harvesting in general?

Can you have sugary snacks and drinks when in labour?

Thinking about packing my labour bag and was originally planning on having lots of sugary snacks and energy drinks in there to keep my energy levels up. But now that I've been diagnosed with GD I wonder if that means I should limit the sugar even when in labour. Anyone have any experience of this?

Newly diagnosed and really struggling with guilt

I've just been diagnosed with GD and now feeling so upset and guilty over it. Even though I know GD isn't anyone's 'fault', I can't help but feel I brought this upon myself by eating rubbish and putting on too much weight in pregnancy. Even if I'm able to avoid complications with the pregnancy the increased risk of type 2 diabetes for the baby in later life weighs so heavily on my conscience... I really wanted to give this baby the best start in life possible and now I feel like I've ruined her life. I find myself crying a lot.

I do not want to imply with this post that I feel any of you are responsible for your GD. This is purely a me issue. I do think a big part of these feelings come from the part of me responsible for my eating disorder in earlier life, and there's something still wrong with my relationship with my body/food/self-worth. Reading my own post I realise I should probably get some help with it.

But yeah... I don't know if this is a common reaction to a GD diagnosis or not. If anyone has success stories of healthy kids and stuff after GD I'd really love to hear them. Thanks for listening to my rant.
