RAM or processor?

Hi all,

I’m looking into getting a new Mac for running Cubase. Either a Mac Studio or a Mac Mini. Which spec is it better to optimize? The processor or the RAM? More cores or better overall performance? I don’t really use a lot of virtual instruments but I do run a lot of tracks with lots of plugins

If I’m recording someone and they’re doing an album or multiple songs I like to keep everything in the same project. Let’s say, for the sake of argument, that I recorded 8 songs for a band and only 2 songs have a guitar solo and those tracks are empty/unused for the other songs. Let’s say each guitar solo is made up of 3 tracks (2 close and a room mic) plus an fx return for effects only used for the solo. Maybe there are a couple tracks of extra percussion that also only appear on those two specific songs. That’s a good 4 to 5 channels that are not used most of the time but are taking up space in the mixer and edit windows.

I know that I can hide channels in the mixer and edit windows manually, but I don’t want to hide them and then unhide them every time I want to adjust something on those tracks. Is there a way to automate it so that, if I’m at a certain location marker in the timeline, or in between 2 specific cycle points, the mixer will automatically show or hide these channels depending on my preference?

I’m on Cubase 13.
