First time using Tamiya Polishing Compounds

This may not be news for many of the very talented people here but hopefully it helps new people like me. I was going to wait until these were finished but the results were so surprising that I couldn't wait. I should have probably added another layer of clear to both so I could wet sand it a little deeper but I am more than happy enough with how it turned out and it was so easy, quick and more than good enough for a display model.

Clear is tamiya LP9 clear mixed ~50/50 MLT

First wetsanded with micro mesh 3200 to 12000 (you can probably stop at 6000) then used a microfiber to apply the compounds and clean in-between.
Coarse compound applied many dots and rubbed in one direction until it disapeared
Fine compound applied in circular motion until it disapeared, same with finish.

Second pic is before. The paint underneath was not perfect but this covered up a lot of the flaws. Thanks for the advice from many members!

Second kit completed!

Thanks for all the amazing feedback on my last post, I really appreciate it!!

Here is my completed 1/20 Toyota 4x4 Pickup by AMT! Choosing this kit was probably a mistake for my second build as it was very challenging. This is a rerelease of the old Lindberg kit and the tooling has been ran through. Almost every piece had misaligned halves from the moulds being shifted. The Chrome tree was unusable because of a ton of bubbles and the tires had to be clear coated since they were half matte and half gloss.

Overall I'm very happy with how it turned out. Here is a list of the paints I used if anyone is interested.

Body: Kaleido matte black primer, oak Green metallic and gloss varnish.
Interior: Cobra Motor Paints brown leather, Vallejo model air black and cobra crystal glass over the gauges
Wheels: kaleido matte black primer, silver metallic and semi gloss varnish. Matte varnish on the tires.
Trim: kaleido silver in most places that had chrome.

The engine and chassis were done before I got an airbrush so were brushed on with Revell aqua colour and not perfect

First kit done!

Finally finished this AMT 1996 Silverado Dually (apart from the cab light). Very basic kit but a pretty good one to learn on, I have learned so much and had to redo a bunch of things but the end result displays pretty well.

Painted in Vallejo hydra turquoise and cleared with kaleido gloss varnish. The Vallejo true metal metallic colours are stunning but a little hard to work with, definitely need more practice.
