Estimators, what usually slows down getting a quote out?

Really curious from people who actually do estimating...

When a quote or bid takes longer than expected, like what’s usually the thing that slows it down?

Is it like missing project details, waiting on pricing?? unclear scope, customer changes, takeoffs, approvals, or just too many requests at once?

Not asking from a sales angle. I’m just interested in what the estimating side actually deals with day to day....

What part of the process tends to create the most delay??

For vet clinics, what front desk task gets overwhelming fastest?

I’m curious for anyone working in or around veterinary clinics. What front desk task becomes the hardest to keep up with when the clinic gets busy? Calls? Scheduling? Follow-ups? Client questions? Reminders? I feel like front desk support has a bigger impact on the client experience than people realize.

When would you choose a remote staffing agency instead of a freelancer?

I’m curious how business owners think about this.

Freelancers can be great for specific projects, but for ongoing support roles, some businesses may need more structure around vetting, onboarding, accountability, and support.

If you’ve hired remotely before, when would you use a freelancer versus a remote staffing agency?

Remote workers: what’s one thing employers do that makes remote work harder than it needs to be?

What’s one thing employers do that makes remote work unnecessarily frustrating?
It could be:
constant meetings
micromanagement
unclear expectations
after-hours messages
poor onboarding
unrealistic workloads
expecting instant replies

And more importantly: what would you prefer them to do instead?

No company names or personal attacks. I’m more interested in the common problems remote workers experience—and the small changes that could make remote work better.

How do you define a remote support role before hiring?

I’m working on defining a remote support role and want to avoid making it too vague before hiring.

For those who’ve hired remote help before, what do you usually clarify before day one?

I’m thinking things like:

  • exact tasks they own
  • when they should update you
  • what needs approval
  • what tools they’ll use
  • what the first week should focus on

I don’t want the person to start and then realize the role is unclear.

What helped you make the role smoother from the beginning?

Franchise operators: what task became a bottleneck first as your location grew?

Full disclosure: I work with ScaleSource, a remote staffing company. I’m not posting a sales pitch or link. I’m just trying to better understand the operational problems franchise owners experience as they grow.

For those managing one or multiple locations, which responsibility became difficult to keep up with first?

  • Answering calls and customer follow-ups
  • Scheduling and administrative work
  • Estimates or sales follow-up
  • Bookkeeping and reporting
  • Hiring and onboarding
  • Keeping processes consistent across locations
  • The owner still handling too many daily tasks

What made that responsibility difficult, and what eventually helped?

I’d especially appreciate real examples from operators. I’m hoping the answers can help us create more practical resources around franchise operations and not generic staffing advice.
