Playing in a cover band

Hi everyone,

I recently started playing in a cover band with one other guitarist, drummer and bassist . We We've been having trouble with playing with a backing track as everything just gets muddy and I cannot hear my guitar in the PA mix. I wear the earasure ear plugs to save my ears so that's another layer of slight muddiness.

I've been seeing some posts about folks that essentially fix on their own "sound" and just modify based on the song they are playing. I've been a bedroom guitarist and it's always been about matching the studio recording tone for me. This is my first band experience so I was hoping to get feedback from experienced folks on if tonematching with unique presets per song is a terrible idea. Any advice on how folks have done this in the past. I own a Helix LT and play with mostly passive Humbucker guitars with coil splits. I recently got a FR-12 cab hoping I could use that instead of the PA to get more of a Amp in room feel but haven't jammed with it yet.

Thanks.

Edit: Wanted to add the bands we are covering currently: Metallica, Strokes, Franz Ferdinand, Green Day, Foo Fighters
