To Side Plot or Not to Side Plot?

I am told this is where you heathens gather to give solicited opinions.

I am writing something right now and I’m trying to decide to what extent to dive into other arcs.

I have built out a pretty elaborate world in my head and I want to know if when and how you like to see side characters have side plots.

I plan to write dual POV Hermione and Draco but with multiple third person POVs sprinkled in, for example I have half a chapter in Daphne’s perspective, a prologue that follows Minerva, a get ready with Narcissa Malfoy chapter opener, a childhood Draco scene from Theo’s perspective ect.

I am worried because of that if I lean into a side plot romance or professional evolution it will be annoying for readers instead of fun.

Okay, help. What is going on with these other Dramione subreddits? I’m so confused.

I returned from hiatus and it appears we’ve multiplied.

I kid you not I just opened Reddit and the first four posts in my feed were Dramione, Dramione uncensored, Dramione bookclub, and Dramione community. My head exploded a little.

I knew about bookclub, but what are the other two? And are there more? And, forgive me, but like…why?

I’ll roll with whatever, just somebody please help me refind the plot here.

I may or may not be panicking. You ever think there are versions of them that don't belong together?

Me either. But let's talk about it.

A friend of mine says she can never get into Dramione because she doesn't see how Hermione could forgive him. And also that they "don't have anything canon in common."

But this isn't about her.

I am increasingly concerned that I am emotionally biased.

Have I read too many fics by now? Have I forgiven Draco too many times that I no longer have to be convinced? Has the Draco wave function collapsed? Has the multiverse morphed into one head-canon Dramione? Would that even be a problem?

Have any of you other obsessive/extensive readers experienced this particular existential crisis? Or am I uniquely insane?

***I now feel the need to clarify that my belief in these two and the necessity of creative freedom is unwavering. I was worried that creates confirmation bias which influences my individual reads. You know, as compared to laypeople like my friend who have a harder time with it.

But I should have anticipated this would devolve into a full throated defense of the ship, so carry on.

Fics where her hair turns Malfoy Blonde like Narcisas’s? A trope, no?

Okay. Help. Am I hallucinating or is this a thing?

I swear it is but I can’t think of any specific fics and it’s driving me mildly insane.
