How did your DPDR start/become permanent?

Hi there!

I'm interested to know if you had any kind of trigger that made your DPDR permanent.

In my case, I would occasionally have moments or even days of derealization as a child, but then - from one day to the next - it suddenly never went away again. I'm sure the underlying cause was the abuse and neglect I experienced as a child, but I find it so strange that the *chronic* DR started on such a random day without any trigger as far as I remember.

If you'd like to share your stories, I'd be happy to hear them :)

Feeling invalidated after getting glutened

Hey there!

I recently got glutened (I already suspected that the food may contain wheat, but didn’t feel comfortable enough refusing out of politeness, which makes me really angry at myself) and my body is completely freaking out.

Does it also make you angry/feel unseen when people either ignore it or say things like: “but it wasn't even that much”? Like yes, I didn’t eat a whole wheat pizza, but I had several bites of a product containing pure wheat - way more than cross-contamination levels (which is ofc also bad!). It feels so invalidating. Maybe I’m being too sensitive, but my last gluten exposure affected me for months and I'm already suffering. I just wish people would at least say things like oh that's really bad, I'm sorry for you. Instead I feel like celiac disease is not taken seriously even by friends.

Thanks in advance!
