Mediatek MT79xx Wifi and BT module now work on Arch since Kernel 7.2.1

Noticed this morning when turning on and updating my Asus Vivobook 16 (AMD, M1605YA) with built in Mediatek MT79xx Wifi and BT module - Updated Arch, Kernel 7.1.2 was installed and after the reboot the module just worked, no manual intervention necessary. Wifi and Bluetooth.

I bought the laptop just before the ram and storage prices went bananas, and -of course- wiped Windows 11 off it as step 1. Only downside was the built in Mediatek 79xx didn't work. But no real issue as I just used a Wifi dongle. No need for that any more. Hooray!

Thx to all involved in making this happen!

Telus always uses an outdated 11 year old landline number I do no loner own as contact number. I have changed it in my profile, I have called 3 times to have it purged ... it just came up again in a PDF of new contract. How do I get rid of it for good?

Is maybe someone here from Telus who can see/edit more than the normal chat/phone agents and help me get rid of that evil ghost of a landline number I no longer have now for over 11 years? I no longer own a landline or that number.

I just had a surprisingly nice, short and efficient call with Telus Security to upgrade my old IQ panel2+ due to 3G cell phone service going away in March 2027.

I had the agent double check that my two current cell numbers (private and business) are in there as contact numbers, not that old evil ghost of a number. She did, and verified the numbers with me by reading them back.

When I got the PDF of the new contract via mail ... There it was again! Under "Contact Number: 604-858-xxxx". This is quite exhausting. I just hope this only shows up in the contract and not for the tech who wants to call me on Saturday when he wants to check if I am home to do the install.

I have called Telus 3 times in the past to have this relic removed but it still pops up once in a while as my "contact number". I cannot find it in my profile, I double checked that is is not anywhere there, the agents have on all 3 calls checked, it is nowhere to be found. But when I try and combine my account and it wants to send a code to my number, guess what number pops up? Yep, that one.

Anyone with access to the dark recesses of Telus Databases able to help and could exorcise that Zombie number?

Edit/Update: The tip from u/Que_Ball was on the money.

Not only did they call me back and were able to see that the Zombie number was actually changed yesterday in the system but they apparently had access to both billing and other databases and checked everywhere (here's hoping!).

It may well be that the agent changed the number after the system sent off the new PDF contract. As all seems to be like it should know, I count that a full success. Thank you, everyone! (.... until the Zombie number haunts me again :))

Telus Security IQ Panel 2+, noticed both smoke detectors expired in 2021. DIY replaceable?

Telus Security IQ Panel 2+, noticed both of my Honeywell 5808w3a smoke detectors expired in 2021 (oops) when replacing the batteries. Is this DIY replaceable? Googling this it "seems" that way and "seems" relatively straight forward: Remove old device entries from panel, add new ones? Anyone done this recently?

I would rather do this myself than having to call Telus and waste precious hours of my life time with them swatting away their upsales talk.

Any suggestions which model to buy? I read that apparently the models with PowerG are supposed to work well with IQ Panel 2+? Or any others that are known to work well, any help welcome. Bonus if available in British Columbia.

I checked in the panel info and it says:

PowerG RF Band: 915MHZ

Manufacturer: Qolsys Inc., San Jose, CA

Part Number: QS9207-5208-124

Edit: Thanks for all the info, appreciate it.

But I just realized that my system uses 3G cell phone tech to connect. As per Dr Google that will be sunset in March 2017, sigh.

Seems I am in for a complete refresh of all the door, PIR and smoke sensors then to a new IQ panel 4 ...
