Got my serialized sprint skin & starting rank yesterday on PS5

Came in at #2446 for the Catacomb Resonance & Bronze IV for ranked. Today I opened up Enbu Fang Oscillator #3777

Now I’m working on getting 500 headshots, which is all I need for platinum. And keeping my K/D over 1 - it’s currently at .916 with a 1.495 KDA

Having a blast swinging around like Spider-Man with a gun. I love this game!

Sweet spot controller settings

Just wanted to share my controller settings to help those who might feel that things are a little off. This was made during SG2/AR play from experience, along with suggestions made by others at the time. After 8 hours in Empulse on PS5/dualsense and a bit of tweaking, this feels great to me. I highlighted what are in my option a couple of the most important tweaks/improvements to make. I hope this helps others find a setup that works for them! Feel free to share your own binds and sensitivities - I like experimenting and hearing about others play styles

Video:

***FOV - 120*** gotta see as much as possible

High Frame Rate - ✅

Binds:

***Jump - L3*** being able to aim while using jetpack is one of the biggest game changers

Crouch (toggle) - ◼️

Reload (tap) + interact (hold) - X

Cancel grapple - ◼️

Fire Weapon - R2

Aim down sights (hold) - L2

Cycle weapon forward - 🔺

Use equipment- R1

Melee - R3

Grapple - L1

***Sensitivity settings:*** feeling comfortable with your sticks and movement is how you flow

Horizontal sensitivity - 6.0

Vertical sensitivity - 6.0

Zoom sensitivity multiplier - 1.0

Deadzone type - smoothed radial

Inner deadzone - .03

Outer deadzone - .07

Response curve - linear

Acceleration type - radial

Acceleration time - .8

Acceleration horizontal max speed - 5.0

Acceleration vertical max speed - 5.0

Aim assist strength - .9

Auto-sprint - ✅

Auto-jetpack - ✅

Vibration - off

Crosshair:

***Show grapple reactive crosshair - OFF*** this was the biggest thing that made my aim feel floaty and hard to follow starting Empulse - turning it off was a necessity to me

***Crosshair style - +*** having the smallest you’re comfortable focusing helped my aim improve a lot

The focus of early access should be making your first round as fun as possible

Throwing my 2¢ in as far as what the main focal point should be for early access and I think should be the pick up and play feel for first time players

As someone who get easily overwhelmed in the current multiplayer FPS landscape, Splitgate 2 felt like home to me from the first beta. It came down to 2 things - customization and movement

Honestly, I think customization can be the biggest barrier to entry. Factions were about the highest level of customization I would have felt comfortable with as someone coming in fresh, I’m even happier with what we have now in SG:AR. Keeping weapons/abilities/etc to a solid core of options allows me to feel comfortable experimenting and leaning the ins and outs, like I can become skilled in each aspect rather than searching and searching for the setup that feels perfect while going through many that just feel off, or even ignoring a large portion of possibilities

The second is movement. Splitgate felt fluid immediately, jumping and sliding alone. This made it fun even as I was getting my shooting skills up to snuff. It encouraged movement and exploration which helped me learn the maps and how I prefer to traverse them. If the base movement is fun, everything else is icing on the cake

This week I gave Apex and Titanfall 2 multiplayer a go while waiting for the PS5 drop. Especially coming from Splitgate, the moment in Apex just felt clunky. The movement in Titanfall 2 just felt right. Apex is currently popular, in active development, etc etc, and has everything going for it, but I dropped it after a couple of test rounds. Titanfall I ended up playing for a couple hours, even as I was getting my ass kicked, had no idea where I was, etc. And Titanfall is the one I’m going to return to (even though it has much more customization than I would prefer, to the point where it‘s a bit overwhelming. And queue/match times are longer than I want)

Basically, I feel the focus should be making the game fun to pick up and play (while also fun to master). I’m excited to see how things progress and hope others can remember that this is early access and things are not intended to be fully completed or set in stone at the moment. I get it - there’s baggage and drama and it can’t fully be ignored, but I think Empulse deserves the chance or at least a tongue biting on hyperbole for a liiiittle while. Ideally we’re all here to make this the best game possible for an eventual launch and to provide feedback while keeping a solid base while the game and number of players continues to grow

And, hey, if you bought it now and it’s not the right fit at the moment or if you’re on the fence and don’t think it is/don’t want to spend the money, you can always revisit it down the line once further changes are implemented - that feedback will be helpful too and maybe your mind will change!
