Went to the range to test out the paper target theory, and y'all were right. One target was at 10 yards and the other at 18ish. (but I don't remember which was which).
Went to the range and shot my Springfield Armory .45 ACP 1911 and noticed that every single shot was keyholing in the paper at a distance of 7-10 yards. I did not get pictures but it was very obvious. (Keyholing is when a bullet strikes the target sideways or partially sideways instead of nose-first, leaving an elongated or “keyhole”-shaped impact instead of a clean round hole
FYI, The ammo was Winchester 230 FMJ. I think it was the regular ammo 230 grain FMJ, but I also have Super Suppressed that I might have accidentally put into the mags.
Anyway, what causes keyholing and how do I fix it?
EDIT: I'll go to the range on Wed and shoot some cardboard targets. But FYI, I also shot my Tisas 1911 .45ACP yesterday and didn't see keyholing.
