S1 on a tablet

Maybe it's more common than I thought but, does anyone have any experience installing studio one and using it on a tablet? I was recently given a 10 inch tablet and thinking about how convenient it would be for some editing purposes away from the studio. How would the work be transferred back and forth?

Bonus question. Does it matter if you open the file from the sng file, or should I open the program first, then load the song, or doesn't it matter?

Where to post?

So I linked into my Southcloud Artist page and uploaded a few tracks, but there's no way to link to friends and family for them to hear anything, without them having to sign up with Soundcloud. I also had started a YouTube page, but we are trying to promote our songs, not videos. Outside of creating our own webpage, which vanishes when we die and stop paying, where is a good place to drop our tracks, for sharing purposes?

Version question

I recently upgraded from an older version to 8.1.....103 and was curious about what version I have, after hearing about subscriptions, etc. My "ABOUT" screen says I get upgrades until next year. Then what? It just keeps running with no upgrades, or I have to pay again? Also, do I get things like Workspaces and Moises and Melodyn?

Why so small?

I don't understand why so many electronic kit manufacturers don't make 12, 14, 16, or 18 inch toms. I'm sure the electronics would be the same, it's just a matter of a larger pad and frame, and would more resemble a real set. You could say the same for cymbals, I guess

Looking for a plugin

..that resembles this type, showing dynamic range. S1 has the volume meters and eq levels, but I haven't come across this type. Anybody?

At a loss combining takes

Please excuse the elementary question, but I just upgraded from good old version 2.6, and I am trying to do something that I've always done easily on the old software. I recorded a MIDI drum track. I went back and recorded another MIDI drum track on a new track. Basically overdubs. Before, I could easily grab those new notes and paste them into the old track thus adding them. When I try to cut and paste now, it replaces the old track, doesn't combine with the old. Even if I record in layers, the layers replace other layers. From now on, I guess I'll have to do my overdubs on the same track but the parts are done, and I don't want to try to have to reproduce them. Thoughts?

Getting the hand

I'm new to version 8, so there's a couple things that I've noticed right away and I'm wondering if it's me. In the mixer console, why only 2 sizes on the faders, Normal and Narrow? It would be nice if you can adjust the size to fit the window like you can the tracks in the Track section. Another thing. On the editor page, is it possible to turn the side panels off? A good 1/4th of the page is cut off with information that I don't really need to see while i'm editing notes, especiallyin drum view. Like I said, i'm new to this version, so if there are ways that I missed, please let me know

Updated to 8.1

So I finally broke down and updated from 2.65 to 8.1 (you know most of us drummers are cheap). My question is this - having hundreds of mixes using the old software, is it safe now to assume everything will transfer smoothly and thereby delete the old software, or keep it installed for safekeeping? I only ask because drivespace on C: is getting low.

The Project Page

I'm just wondering, do most users use the project page settings for finishing their masters, or do they mix and master their own tracks?

Midi drum note length

When recording midi drums, I'll have to go into the track and control A all the notes I just played to lengthen them enough to see them for corrections or quantizing. Then if I do overdubs or retakes on that track, i can't control A because it affects all the previous notes already lengthened, so I'll have to find the new notes separately. Could there be a macro or keyboard shortcut to automatically lengthen midi drum notes played, to a length where they become visible as they're being recorded?
