Is animation just dead on YouTube?
I make short animation films. They always blow up on Instagram and TikTok, getting 200,000-500,000 views. But on YouTube I get 100-200 views. I haven’t seen any growth. Just a straight line.
I used to focus on just YouTube, I was a no name animator, but I reluctantly started posting on Instagram Reels and TikTok and now I have an audience and a few other animators and creators I admire following me which is really cool.
But I really want YouTube (long form) to work.
I see a few animators still doing solid on YouTube (long form) like Bridge Kids, Ghoul Productions, Skull Mug, Cusack Creatures. How do they do it? All the YouTube advice I read is for informational or persuasive channels (video essays really do run the platform now). I never see advice for entertainment or art (short films, animation, comedy skits).
