I want to ask as I am curious. My (almost) 6-year old mini is basically fully recovered from her bout of Stage 2, diagnosed almost 3 months ago on July 9th. It was triggered by a high hotel bed jump that shouldn't have happened but did. She didn't show any symptoms right away but I was told that's normal, and that they start to show up within a few days.

Anyway, it was a real shock and horrifying journey, and now I'm focusing on prevention. Obviously high jumps are the biggest risk for any dachshund with IVDD. But what else is there? Could rough play or slipping cause it? I realize I only have my experience, and most forums don't share how their dog got it.
