How Does Everyone Feel About This?

I’m reading up on this story and trying to get everything straight and the entire thing is extremely offputting to me.

Trump sued the IRS for $10 billion dollars for failing to protect Trump and his son’s tax info from being leaked. The suit was just dropped and a $1.8 billion “Anti-Weaponization Fund” was created, made to support those targeted by the law.

There is more though. The settlement was reached with the Justice Dept., of which Trump controls. The money being put into that fund is tax payer dollars, our money. The people who decide who gets that money is a committee appointed by a Trump, and can be removed by Trump at any time. I think it’s safe to assume that Trump will only allow that money to go to Trump supporters. There is no oversight over this committee, aside from Trump.

Another fishy part of the agreement was a section called a “Release of Claims”, which signs away all claims on behalf of the US against DT, and it protects him from ever being sued, audited or investigated by any gov’t agency in the future.

We know, and he has admitted (and people on the right applauded him for it), that he really never paid taxes, or at least his fair share, in the past, and this document forfeits the right of the govt to collect any back taxes.

This document applies to not only Trump, but his companies, family, and associates, and is in effect in perpetuity, meaning forever.

The “Anti Weaponization Fund” sounded great until I actually looked into the case a bit. To me this entire thing sounds like a giant scam. This doesn’t feel like it should be legal, but the people in power who it benefits are the ones making the rules. Democracy runs on the principles of checks and balances, and those are being removed for a specific group of wealthy people.

I donno, what does everyone think? I voted for Trump 3 times but I’m exhausted by all of this.
