Keep or remove ovaries? I'm going to be 50 early next year. I'm so torn on what to do.
I don't have any risk factors for ovarian cancer and will be having a hysterectomy and salpingectomy (cervix, uterus, tubes). The surgeon said it is my call on the ovaries. I'm 49.5 and have some symptoms of perimenopause, but I don't have some of the symptoms like hot flashes. I'm getting the hysterectomy due to fibroids. I see such mixed advice and experiences. My surgeon said she would lean towards reming them and then going on an estrogen patch. After some research though, I'm leaning towards keeping them as they may not quit just yet and may continue to provide some benefit besides estrogen. I'm on medication that is already not good for bones and I am very concerned about all the downsides.
Would love any advice or insight people can provide. This is seriously stressing me out and I have my surgery in 10 days.
Pelvic Floor PT - How soon did you go?
My doc says not until 6 weeks, but wondering if this is the right timing or still a little too soon. Getting a robotic hysterectomy cervix, uterus, and possibly ovaries ( still trying to decide).
I have to have a hysterectomy. The hysterectomy is performed using a Trendelenburg position, so laying flat with the head of the table being tilted down at a steep angle. Not sure how steep yet, but some of the pictures I've seen are pretty steep. I'm partially sealed (5 non targeted patches). The leak is in the cervical.
I'm worried this will blow my partial patch. Has anyone been through this in my situation? Any advice?
I'm newly diagnosed with CVI in both legs. I have to get a hysterectomy and I don't think I'll be able to put on my compression socks for a month or 2. I know I'll probably be laying down, sitting, and walking whenever I'm able, but don't know how to manage the CVI if I can't wear the compression socks. Any advice on getting through the recovery period?
