Anyone got a true indication of the time line to get to Jumbo operator starting at nipper all the way through to jumbo?
I've seen online 3-5years but also seen 10years+ in many places.

Should be starting as an underground drillers offsider in the next 3-4weeks.
I've completed all induction packages and learning modules along with my medical and fitness assessment.
Really looking forward to starting and I've got a fair bit of time up doing hard long days both in civvie street and the military.
I'm wondering a few things at the moment:
I'm guessing that there would have to be at least an hour of the day at the start and end of the shift used for briefings and travel.
Backpack/crib bag - I jumped the gun and got a crib bag, and now I'm looking at possibly a backpack for my PPE etc etc. What backpacks are you guys using? This one looks like it would do the job: Caribee 64761 Mineral King 32L Safety Backpack.
Progression Timeline: I don't want to rush through things, I plan and expect to learn from the ground up and do my time where necessary.
That said, I've been told that after 6months I will start Cert2 drilling. 6-12months after that start Cert 3 drilling and start getting exposure and time on the drill rig.
In your experience, what is a realistic timeline to be promoted to driller if you are showing that you have the understanding and capacity to fulfill the role?
I've heard between 3-5years but some people have said even longer.
* Diamond Driller - Core recovery
* In-Seam directional drilling
* Raiseboring
* Jumbo drilling
I've got a general understanding of each and it seems like risk (and pay) are higher on the last two. Any other info/tips would be good.
I've got a shitload of other questions but will save them for HR when the time comes.
