Almost switched to Fuji for film sims. Then I tried CLs on my a7c II

I love taking photos on my travels. And the Sony a7c II is the perfect blend of a professional camera and a travel camera.

I’ve had one issue with it so far, though. And it wasn’t the camera’s fault at all. I come back from every trip with hundreds of photos, and editing them just takes a ton of time. That led me to start eyeing a Fujifilm more and more because of its film simulations.

I was even on the verge of buying one until a YouTube video pointed out that you can do quite a lot with the Creative Looks as well. I’d ignored them for years and dismissed them as just a gimmick. Long story short, I don’t need a Fuji and I’m happy with this.

Camera: a7c II, Lens: Sony FE 40mm f/2.5 G + 1/4 Mist Filter.
Every photo is straight out of the camera (with at most a crop).

Edit:

Here’s the “recipe” for the Creative Look. Although “recipe” is really an overstatement. These are really just noob settings. ^^

- Creative Look: FL (Film) with no further adjustments.

- White balance: 6300K

- Color correction: About 3–4 steps into the red on the matrix.

For the soft highlights, I also screwed a 1/4 black mist filter onto the lens.

Where can you find these settings?

- You can find Creative Looks in the settings (Color/Tone/Creative Look) or in the Quick Menu.

- Set white balance to Manual and select the desired Kelvin value there.

- Color correction is also adjusted in Manual White Balance. Just swipe right once on the matrix to open it.

I was with a friend on tour at sunday. And he took a picture, while I was flying.
