Daldongne 달동네
"Daldongne," which literally means "Moon Village," refers to the densely packed hillside residential areas commonly found throughout Seoul. While some have become tourist spots, many remain active, working-class neighborhoods where high-density, low-rise houses are crammed together along steep, narrow slopes. For the residents living there today, these villages represent both the harsh reality of navigating endless uphill climbs and a vital, tight-knit community within the concrete jungle of the city.
