All in an evening's work (and extremely satisfying)

Bought this Gameboy on a whim during the last 20 minutes of an auction. Arrived this afternoon and was in pretty horrible shape. I'm talking battery cover being essentially welded shut with battery acid (see last picture), some sort of brown goo inside that I'm pretty sure has the next strain of hantavirus and a few missing screws.

Well, it appears that after soaking the battery cover in isopropyl alcohol, getting the old batteries out and flushing the entire unit with isopropyl alcohol while taking it apart to clean the case, the old thing popped back to life like it'd only taken a short nap. It even came with a copy of Tetris 2! Only issue is that the speaker seems entirely toast, but that's secondary since I pretty much always play on mute anyways.

It's stupidly satisfying fixing these things. This thing is going to get an IPS upgrade and new shell.

Vitamins?

My wife and I were talking over dinner about vitamins. I take some pretty generic multi-vitamins, and it got me thinking about longer term health in a crisis situation. While there are other more important things, I started considering expanding my preps, seeing how they can have a shelf life of ~15 years of they're stored properly.

Obviously, vitamins shouldn't be used as opposed to a varied, healthy diet. But in a situation of food insecurity and/or impaired variety, about $100 could buy a stash that could last about four years of taking one per day, which would help long term health and resilience.

What are your thoughts?
