It’s been bad for a while in the Shelby Park/ Germantown neighborhood and now it seems they’ve moved to target the Audubon neighborhood.
In 10+ years I’ve been w/ this company I’ve never had a $0 day and I’m usually cool w/ what I make as long as my gas and food is covered. Looking at these offers it’d have taken me over 100+ miles of driving just to recoup cost for my day and if I used the IRS expense as my baseline. I’d have net less than $20.00 for however long it to get that many offers. That’s the equivalent of about $3 per hour 😳. Like fr who are these drivers that are making sub $0.50 per mile the new standard to accept an offer? There’s no way yall are letting these Quests beat yall down this bad. If I didn’t have DoorDash I’d be fucked or have to go back to working whatever job I can find.
This is such an impractical way to live tbh. And these are the luxury types with the higher ceilings. So there’s like an extra 20 stairs to the top floor. This is hell no for me. When this is finalized, this entire complex will be on my do not deliver this list. There’s a reason I prefer DD over and that’s cuz I get time to look up an address before I accept.
I have 4 hours left in my shift and I probably should go home. Because I know with this weather I won’t see an offer that’s worth it for the rest of the night. It’s worse knowing DD doesn’t surge anymore they just stack crappy offers together instead.
This is not a job. This is a Gig that relies on independent contractors. So sending the same offers over and over is only convincing a very small number of people to accept the work. That used to be effective when food delivery wasnt popular. But now that Uber has added so many other merchants, shop and pay packages etc - people have come to depend on the service. So now there’s thousands of offers/work that need to get done promptly. That means offers should be calculated fairly and offered at best value so we can go get this shit done and be ready for another task. But that’s not what’s happening, offers are getting stuck in the queue for hours at a time and frigging driving me nuts. Like why the fuck is there not a sensor at HQ to pickup on this. Here it is Friday and like every Friday - turned on the app and it’s like a fucking tornado siren going off - all this work that needs to get done but it’s all underpaid Lowe’s? Home Depot? 30+ stops routes on Walmart etc … Turn on DoorDash boom $40 to go shop at Aldis 48 items - DoorDash gets it. Idk why Uber doesn’t. Uber needs to go back to the old system that calculates offers and sends them out.
I’m on almost a 6 hour gap of not getting anything matched to my location. It’s like the algorithm is now set to test your willingness to bend over. It’s a good thing I have other apps to rely on or I’d be fuckd. Hope yall are having a better day than I.
