Tips on how to "reset" progress sync

I use readest across multiple iOS devices. My goal is to sync reading progress, status, and group assignments but NOT load my titles to the readest cloud. I don't know if it's due to the last release or turning off cloud upload, but my progress sync isn't working. Any tips on how to get it going again?

Multi-download on the roadmap

I've checked https://github.com/readest/readest/issues but I can't tell if the ability to select and download more than one book at a time over opds is on the roadmap. I know it's a little more complicated b/c you can import books in formats other the epub/pdf, but this is the last feature before I can say my Marvin replacement quest has been fulfilled.

Can anyone confirm that it's on the list of features for a future release?

Kindle oasis 10th gen users. . 5.18.2.1.1?

My Kindle is currently in airplane mode. If you've installed it and you're here, please DM me. I'd like to know if the newest release impacted anything (I assume it has).

auto upload books to cloud gone in 0.12.1

there used to be an option in the top right corner menu to auto upload books to the cloud. it now says “auto import on file open”. can someone clarify what that means and how i set things up to sync book progress and bookmarks but NOT upload my books to the cloud?

Single tap bookmark?

It seems the only way to bookmark a page is to tap the screen and then select the bookmark icon in the top menu. Does anyone know if there's a way to set a bookmark with a single tap? For example, in Mapleread and old-school Marvin you can set the bookmark by tapping in the top right corner of the screen. thank you in advance!

syncing groups?

I have a lifetime plan. I do not want to upload all my books to the cloud--however I do want to sync data about any books that I have on multiple devices. This includes reading position, status, and grouping. Reading position sync has improved in the last couple of releases, but despite trying multiple sync settings, I can't seem to get the app to sync groups. Has anyone figured this out?

Theme question--background tied to day/night

I'm still in my head-to-head between readest and mapleread. They each have features I love. With themes, is there a way to associate a background image with only light mode or dark mode? I use backgrounds, so when I switch from one mode to another I currently have to head into the settings and change the background.

▲ 1 r/kobo

I recently purchased a KLC and overall I'm enjoying it. I mostly read ebooks on an IOS device (using 3rd party apps like Mapleread or readest--RIP Marvin), but sometimes I prefer an eink device when I'm outside or want a 100% distraction free device. I previously used a kindle (with side loaded books) for the same use case as the KLC.

I did find that side-loading my Calibre books on my OLD MacBook running an old version of Calibre involved a few extra steps. The best process was converting the files to kepub in calibre but then changing the filename from .kepub to kepub.epub. Old calibre 4.22 didn't recognize the KLC, but I could copy the books over through the finder.

I just go a new MacBook (where i can run the latest, greatest version of calibre) and side loading the books is a dream (just like the kindle). Calibre recognizes the device and automatically converts it to kepub with the right file naming convention, those kepub.epub books reside only on the KLC, Calibre doesn't keep that format on my laptop as well (as it would with a manual conversion).

The last bit of functionality I couldn't replicate was the ability to access my OPDS over the install Kobo "Beta" browser. This is an occasional use case--side loading works best but sometimes you just want one book and OPDS over the browser is a nice option. Yes, I tried using KoReader; honestly, I didn't care for it. I did install NickelMenu b/c I like the easy access to dark mode. On the Kindle, I could use the browser to access OPDS by using my laptop IP address and the mobile version ("http://192.0.0.24:8080/mobile").

That did NOT work with the KLC. Today, I figured it out. I removed the "require username and password" setting in Calibre and voila, as long as the URL is configured as "http://192.0.0.24:8080/mobile/". In this scenario, you're likely going to download an ePub rather than kepub (which renders differently for me than the kepub format), but I'm happy I figured it out. Side loading will be my go-to method, but I like having the option.
