365 days of living in a studio apartment in campus - here’s what I think you should know

For prospective students and those of you who are headed to bcit in the coming months, here’s what I think you should know about living on campus.

  1. These apartments are tiny, 200sq ft to be exact. If you’re getting a studio, you also have your own kitchen and bathroom crammed in that space. Just be aware

  2. On the same note, there is no bathroom storage included. No shelving, no cupboards. I would highly recommend getting a shelf from home hardware that sits above your toilet. It’s rlly the only solution for the space as the space is not well designed.

  3. The kitchen (in a studio) is surprisingly….. good? There’s enough storage for all the food and dishes one person should ever need. I also manage to fit an air fryer on top on the fridge, an espresso maker on the counter, and a soda stream. Basically don’t be concerned about kitchen storage, just stay tidy and it’s a good space.

  4. The “closet” is small and doesn’t have doors. There are two dressers included that come under the bed but you can take them out and stack them if you prefer the under bed space to be storage for large items.

  5. Finally, social life is pretty underwhelming. If you put yourself out there and make the effort to make connections you can definitely have a good time, but don’t expect frat parties lol.

I have lots more to share and answers to all your questions regarding housing and campus life, please feel free to reach out!

Cheaper parking PSA!!!

So I know everybody hates bcit parking to its core, it’s expensive and often you have to walk farther than you would like to get to class from your vehicle.

I can’t off the distance any solution, BUT, bcit recently changed the rules for students living on campus. Now if a student who lives here applies for a special permit they can pay 5$ a day instead of $7 and still park anywhere on campus.

Many students on campus do not have a vehicle so if you’re looking to save a couple hundred bucks over the course of the year, I would recommend making a friend with someone in housing and have them get a permit with your license plate.

Cheers

Commute from bcit to surrey

This is a long shot, but I’m going to be going from bcit to surrey everyday at around 6:30 am for work, and I was wondering if there’s anyone who would like to carpool in that direction, I wouldn’t mind the help with fuel.
