Anyone commuting from BCIT area to Coquitlam? 😭

This might be a long shot 😅 but I recently started working in Coquitlam, and I live near BCIT Burnaby.

I’m wondering if anyone here does a similar commute and might be interested in carpooling. I’d of course help pay for gas/parking

Transit is destroying my soul lol

Radiation Therapy / Programs in general

hello! I'm fairly new to programs at BCIT as a recent UBC grad. I've had trouble getting into physio and decided to explore some other pathways in the health sector. However, I'm worried that the small cohorts also means programs such as RTT are incredibly competitive to get into or I may be wrong (which I hope I am).

thank you in advance for any advice / insight!

How does course registration work?

this is my first time enrolling at BCIT. Is course registration, sign up immediately and pay the tuition later as long as it’s before the deadline like most universities, or sign up and pay immediately?

MLT Program

Reposting because I accidentally deleted my post..

I am interested in applying for Med Lab Tech but I have multiple withdrawals on transcripts.
Otherwise, my grades are competitive.
I asked admissions and they said having multiple withdrawals may impact my ranking on short listing process for MOA.
Am I cooked? or should I still try and apply?

program progress questions

(sorry if this doesn't belong here)

I feel like I've wasted ~4 years on schooling.

  • in progress of a diploma, nowhere close to finishing it (Global Supply Chain Management, started 2022. I have until 2027 to "complete it"), and certificate (International Trade and Transportation Logistics, started 2023. I have until 2030 to "complete it"). I have 3 courses left. Both as a part-time student

  • in progress doing OPMT1130 "business statistics" (which is required for BOTH, and failing it (as I have reached my attempt limit) means I fail my programs and have wasted my time)

  • I have struggled with math heavy courses due to my lack of understanding, and still struggle to grasp it even after 2-3 reattempts, with tutoring, etc

  • should I just give it up (diploma) and find employment, and re-try the diploma or certificate (worst case scenario) in the future?

Laptop friendly late-night coffee spots in Greater Vancouver

I graduated uni last year and throughout my time, I would work on creative side projects at night, cramming for exams when needed. I noticed there weren't many coffee spots that opened late. Now, I dedicate most of my time to these side projects and still face the same problem.

Been scouting them out in the Greater Vancouver area. Made a list, all of which have Wi-Fi. Sectioned by location, opening-times, and vibes.

Note: part of this list is my own curation, part of it I got help from mommy Claude. So if you've been to these places, lmk if any of the info is inaccurate. Also lmk if you gave more places to recommend. Hope this helps.

Anyone here completed BCIT 4th Class Power Engineering (online + Power Lab)? How was the job market afterward?

Hi everyone,

I recently enrolled in BCIT’s 4th Class Power Engineering Part A online program and wanted to hear from people who have already gone through the pathway, especially those who completed the Power Lab portion.

I’m coming from a software/engineering background and considering Power Engineering as a long-term career transition. I’m almost 40, so I’m trying to get a realistic understanding of the process and job market before going too far down this road.

A few questions:

  • How competitive is it to get into the BCIT Power Lab after finishing the online courses?
  • Is there usually a long waitlist?
  • After finishing the lab and getting steam time, how difficult was it to find your first job?
  • Are graduates still finding work in BC reasonably well?
  • What kinds of roles did people end up getting? (plant operator, building operator, refrigeration, etc.)
  • Did age matter much for career changers entering the field?

I’d really appreciate honest feedback from people who actually completed the program or are currently working in the industry.

Thanks!

BCIT has apparently removed Saturday exam invigilation.

As far as I know this was one of the only services of its kind in BC for students balancing full-time work, apprenticeships, shift work, and commuting.

North Van Library offers weekend exam invigilation, though exclusive to it's residents/business owners.

For a school that promotes accessibility and flexible pathways for working adults, this decision feels completely backwards.

A lot of BCIT and external students are working full-time, supporting families, commuting long distances, doing shift-work, and therefore have busy schedules.

Not everyone can take random weekdays off just to write exams.

Weekend invigilation made education realistically accessible for a lot of people. Removing it creates a huge barrier for working students trying to improve their lives.

Has anyone else been affected by this?

Best living options?

Hi guys! I’m planning on going to bcit Burnaby campus either this year or next year, and I’m just wondering how cheap is it to live in an apartment?? I wouldn’t mind living in dorms but I would prefer to be alone and have no roommate. Could anyone tell me their experience?

CIT Requirements

Hey guys I graduated high school back in 2019 and was the last class to do the provincial exams. I'm just wondering if the CIT program would look at my English 12 exam mark and my final score or the score before my provincials. Sadly it dropped my grade by 10% went from 75% to 65% after I got a 51% on the provincials. Would they even consider me, is it important to get a really high grade for the program requirements as of 2026-2027?

I was already willing to go and upgrade my English and Foundations 12, but I just viewed my transcript and I'm wondering how BCIT would assess my Eng. 12? I know it wouldn't hurt to increase the mark but if I can save money since I'm struggling that'd be awesome. Either way I'm willing to do whatever it takes to get in, I'm going to try my hardest if they accept me. I really need this career change and it's a passion I've had for as long as I can remember.

Thanks everyone for responding and taking time to read this post,

God bless.

CIVL ENG schedule

Hi I’m going into civil engineering this fall and my friend is aswell. Not that it matters, but is there a chance we get any courses together, as it would be great to have someone familiar in a lecture. Or are classes split up by groups in the degree?

MLS Unofficial University Transcript

I am applying to the MLS program and want to submit my transcript for my HSCI degree from SFU, I graduated in 2025. I am only able to get a digital version of my unofficial transcript, as the official version can only be physically mailed out. SFU also does not send an electronic copy to BCIT. Will the unofficial transcript be enough or should I order the physical version of my official transcript?
