Tomato dilemma

Wondering if anyone has any advice on my tomato dilemma. I’ve got a bunch of tomato plants waiting to plant out, currently in pots in the greenhouse (unheated) by night and hardening off by day. I’ve never grown toms outdoors before, only under glass.

Ideally I’d be planting them out this weekend - they’re definitely ready. But it is going to be really hot here (London), and I won’t be able to get up to the plot for a week to do any watering once they’re in. I know it’s generally better to water deep and infrequently but I’d usually want to water more frequently for a week or so when plants are just transplanted.

So my dilemma is - do I plant them out, give them a massive drink and hope for the best while I’m away, or do I wait a week and plant out when I’m back and can water more reliably? I can schedule watering at home with an irrigation system, I don’t have that luxury at the allotment and the neighbouring plots are apparently abandoned so I don’t have a neighbour I can ask.

They are strong and healthy plants but they definitely need to get their roots down. What do you reckon??
