Part-time work exemption - what happens during a holiday?
Hi all,
I'm on Jobseeker with part-time capacity and have just been granted a part-time work exemption until 31 Dec. My assessed benchmark hours are 15-22 per week, which I currently meet through casual work alongside part-time study.
I’m planning ahead a bit and wanted to check how this usually works in practice: if I take 2-3 weeks of unpaid leave over Christmas to travel interstate and visit family, I would be reporting 0 hours for that period. Would a break like that affect my payment, compliance, or trigger a review of the work capacity/exemption, or is it generally fine as long as my work resumes afterwards? Is there a procedure for reporting a short, temporary absence from work?
It took me months and a lot of appointments to get this exemption sorted, so the idea of a trip home messing it all up kind of terrifies me lol
