worry abt collecting rotten wood/leaves ?
Ive been preparing nd researching more abt millipedes for a while now ((+ will keep on doing that for as long as I have absolutely no questions anymore before finally adopting millipedes))
but since Im a snail parent I am a big overthinker when it comes to parasites,, worms etc,, so how do u deal w that risk when collecting rotting wood or leaves? is checking it + knowing there are no chemicals really enough?
is a hole in the inside of wood a no-no or is that jst a normal part of rotting?
what r some signs that anything is infected w the wrong types of creatures?
should the leaves be washed or does that remove their meal on the rot?
I also have the option to buy dried leaves from a snail website nd then jst let them rot slowly in the millipede terrarium or buy millipedes leaf litter or wood from an insect website since I think those would be more controlled on what creatures can rot the leaves or wood
do u collect it wild or buy it online?
how big is the difference between wild collected // online bought? will any unnoticed hitchhikers on rotten collections infest the terrarium?
I wish to keep it as healthy as possible to reduce the chance of illness but Im not sure if that should be right since they literally eat rot yk aahm
