I'm planning to build a small brick patio in my backyard. Here's my plan:

• Mark the patio area with string line
• Dig down 7"
• Lay geotextile fabric
• Fill with #57 gravel. Tamp
• Fill with #8 chip ? Or is sand better?
• Screed and level with a 2x4 and a 4' level
• Install plastic landscape edging around the perimeter. Open to other suggestions here too
• Lay brick in a basket weave pattern (no need to cut bricks then). Aim for 1/4" spacing, either using tile spacers or shims?
• Sweep polymeric sand (Gator Maxx G2) into joints
• Compact again with a plate compactor + rubber pad

Anything I'm missing or that you would change? It's a fairly small patio (around 125 sq ft).
