Ace Medical -- New Business (in the old Lee's Comics location)

Stopped in today and spoke with the owner.

I have had needs for durable medical equipment and other stop-gap medical private pay stuff over the years as a result of supporting family members on Medicare where the coverage doesn't go as far as it ideally would.

The owners are knowledgeable (one is a nurse), caring, and sound like they are ready to meet the community's needs with thoughtful well-sourced solutions to fill the gaps that insurance can't.

Everyone I spoke with was super kind. The nurse owner has run a similar business in Hawaii for 3 decades, but decided to open one here after her daughter (who I met and was lovely) graduated from Santa Clara University.

Re-listening to the episode with the context of her latest book was very interesting.

Specifically, from the book I learned that Jenni Konner asked her not to write about their fallout for a while and noted that she just left everything about that relationship completely out of the discussion on AE back in 2018.

Also, it was very interesting to see how super consistent her discussion on AE was with how she wrote about that time in her life for the topics that she did feel comfortable discussing.
