Canal boat for a day

We have family visiting from Canada 🇨🇦 in August and we’re considering renting a canal boat to take the grandkids out on (day trip, not overnight).

Has anyone done this? Recommendations or warnings? I have found ABC Boat Rentals at Lowesmore Wharf online, but thought I would check with here first.

Thanks!

Chronic pain

I have been blessed. 63 yo before I had my first unrecoverable hypermobile injury (I am a 9 out of 9 on the Beighten scale). I apparently got through so many years through a lot of physical activity and very few injuries. I am now 65 and still working on getting through this one, though finally getting some real help.

I had never before appreciated what chronic pain can do to someone. My life has become very small as my hip prevents me from getting out and doing anything. And the pain that accompanies that is depressing.

We are leaving on a 2 week holiday in a few days. I am scared. I am doing all the right things to try and get through it, but some 8 hour train rides mid trip have really worried.

For those of you who have been dealing with this for so many more years than me … I feel for you and hope you’re finding answers and light at the end of the tunnel.

Has anyone tried Tai Chi?

I am finally getting the help I need from a specialist (only one appointment so far, so it’s early). I had ovarian cancer 24 years ago and have a 7” vertical scar descending from my belly button to my public bone.

Yeah, I probably should have worked on those muscles, but they have been neglected for a long time and a hip injury 30 months ago has brought that home to roost.

My core is void and apparently my hip muscles have been doing a yoeman’s job keeping me erect and acting as my scaffolding (all this with hip dysplasia), my osteopath says I owe this body a big salute for its compensation capabilities!

Anyway, once I get the muscles rebuilt, I want something I can do regularly that doesn’t feel like a workout 🏋🏻 and I have heard Tai Chi can be excellent for core for hypermobile bodies. I like the idea of outdoors in nature (I was a big hiker until this happened) and the calmness of it.

Anyone tried it and can share experience?

Dual Accountant

I have reviewed the subreddit for recommendations for dual accountants and have narrowed it down to Jaffe & Co and AGA-Tax.

It is now May 14 and our current dual accountant still hasn't even told us how much we owe in the US 🙄, so we are looking for a new accounting firm.

Does anyone have personal experience (good or bad) that they would be willing to share about these two firms before we make a decision.

Many thanks!

Finnegan was born just outside of Portland, OR and moved to the UK with us when he was 7 months old. Never expected to find FEWER English Setters over here than we had in the PNW, but here we are.

We know a Gorden snuck into his genealogy somewhere. He is our 5th English Setter over the years and he is every bit as English as the rest ... goofy, happy, selective hearing, stubborn, mind of his own, lap dog, cuddler, independent ... all of the above and a lot more.
