20 Year Old Moving to Worcester

Hey,

As the title says I am considering making a move to Worcester for work. As I do not know anyone there, I was wondering if Worcester is a good place for 20 year olds to move to.

I would be moving from a large city like Manchester, and would like to still have some social life. Though work will be demanding, an evening drink with a friend, or a cinema date would still be nice to have.

Thanks in advanced

Visiting for Elgar Festival - Points of Interest?

Hello!

I put together a trip to Worcester for my partner who plays cello and loves Elgar. We are coming for the Elgar festival and have purchased tickets for some of the performances already! We're very much looking forward to it and but as the day approaches I wanted to get some local insight on a few questions.

  1. Getting around - We're staying outside the city (Google maps says it's a 40-minute walk, an 11-minute drive, and a 30-minute bus ride to get into the city, so a little ways out). Our host recommended using "Woober" which he described as an Uber for the Worcester area. However, googling it I can't get much information, and reddit posts seem a bit dubious about this service. Does anyone have other recommendations or more information about Woober?

  2. Local Favorites - Our host made a number of recommendations for activities that we've already planned to check out (Malvern Hills, March Hare, Red Point, etc.), but these were offered up after I described we loved being active and being outdoors! They don't feel like a Worcester experience as much as just some experiences that are in the area. My partner and I are both active and love to walk and hike. We also like biking, but I just can't seem to find a place to rent bikes that isn't an hour's train ride away. We also both love museums! However, we're really game for anything. I would love to hear any recommendation! If it brings you joy it'll probably bring us joy too

  3. Thoughts on the Elgar Festival - We're already planning to see a number of performances, but any insight to the local festival is welcome!

Thank you for any of your thoughts!

diglis weir seats

you know as you have the three sets of steps down to the weir accessible on the footpath. are you allowed to go down there and use the seats, even if people are fishing?

not looking to get shouted at but i come here a lot and don’t want to have to sit elsewhere lol

Caught a really nice view of the bridge from the Cathedral grounds!

Took a stroll by the Cathedral earlier and caught this view of Worcester Bridge and the Severn. Even with the gloomy weather, it’s still one of the nicest spots in the city to just sit for a bit. Where's your favorite place to go for peace and quiet around here?

Looking for some advice please

So so embarrassed to even ask does anywhere know any places that help with food other than the food bank not eat since Friday and we've had 3 vouchers from food bank and they won't help with anymore until a 6 month period my hours have been very low this month so wages barely covered bills I have a young child and dog I have fed my child always put first but really struggling to put food on the table for another day as bad as it sounds I rather be honest and try ask for help even if it is embarrassing than to struggle alone

BT Telephone Exchange

Bit of a weird one but I've noticed more activity coming from the BT Telephone Exchange at Charles Street. And yes, i know that it is an abandoned telephone exchange from the 70s and open and closed as soon as it opened due to system x taking over. But only this year is that i have seen more and more activity coming from it, such as more vans around the area with people coming in and out, top, second and bottom floor lights on during the day and night which as never the case a few months ago, is something going on? is there something that is happening that we dont know? or is it just simple refurbishment and or maintenence? who knows?

Elopement

Does anyone have any suggestions in or near Worcester for elopemyent style wedding? Think town hall style or something really intimate.

My partner and I are considering this, then hosting a big party elsewhere either the same day or a few days after.

Anything except a barn 😂

Thank you!

Any shops or charities that sells washing machines and fridges?

As the title says, I’ve been living in Blackpole since November ‘25 and I’ve still not been able to get myself a fridge and washing machine. Are there any places around that sells them? Doesn’t have to be fancy
