Tax rep nomination - who must go?

Some questions:

  1. So my tax rep won't be able to come with me to the tax office to hand in my 消費税の納税管理人の届出書 (the tax rep nomination form). Is that ok? We will fill in the form together and I plan to go alone. Info online is quite vague about if we must go together.
  2. Do I need to submit photocopies of my tax reps identification documents as well as my own? Again, info online is quite conflicting.
  3. As of January 2025 regional tax offices no longer return certified copies of the tax rep nomination form. Prior to this, you had to make 2 copies of the form, get them stamped, and give one to your tax rep. What is the procedure now? Just give a copy which has not been certified to them?
  4. Has anyone used e-tax to do this? I am wondering if it would be more convenient (if possible)

Driving lessons - not to get license

I have a UK license and am returning to the UK later this year. I havn't driven for 5 or 6 years and want to have some driving lessons to regain my confidence. I aso do not have a Japanese license.

Lessons would be much cheaper to take here than in the UK, hence why I would like to take lessons here.

I know the standard proceure in Japan is that you buy like a set package which takes you through the whole process of tests, studying physical lessons, etc. I don't need that. I literally just want 4 or 5 sessions to remind myself of things like spacial awareness.

Has anyone experienced something like this? I welcome any advice.

Pension refund - bank account confirmation letter

I am getting ready to leave the country and apply for the pension refund thing.

So to get the lump sum payment, I have to submit a document with "Bank name," "Branch name," "Branch location," "Bank account number," and "Bank account holder’s name (according to the JPS website).

Issue is, none of the documents I can get have a branch location or branch name. It will have the account number and my name, but I am not "assigned" to a branch the same way people are in Japan. It also will not have an official stamp or anything.

Is this ok? Would love any advice.

And apologies for another question about this topic, I did search the sub and no one spoke about this exact issue.

tricky change in residence timeline

I am in a tricky situation where my last day of work and my visa expiration are the same day. I am a JET so cannot leave early, and they also choose a flight back for me which is one week after my visa expires. So, I need to apply for a change of residence status to temporary visitor.

I read this post and it was helpful but I still have some questions
My experience changing student SOR to temporary visitor
by u/innosu_ in japanresidents

If this person had said they wanted to delay the change in status (i.e. not have it take immediate effect), how would the delay happen? Would it be automatic or require an additional visit to immigration office people? Would there be any mail involved? I will have moved out of my address so will not have access to post.

I appreciate any advice

Soul Mate subtitles

OK so there are so many mistakes; it is killing me. There are mistakes in both the translation from Japanese and from Korean.

For example they keep translating "日本語" which means Japanese to "English". It's just completely wrong.
