Question about style and cultural appropriation

Hi everyone,

I live in Switzerland and, to put it mildly, I've always been in love with the American West. Ever since I was a kid, I've dressed like a cowboy, listened to rock 'n' roll and country music, and watched Westerns religiously with my dad every Sunday.

Long story short, I recently bought a straw cowboy hat and I'm planning to get a felt one for the winter. I usually wear blue jeans, shirts or T-shirts, and half boots.

I don't want to pretend that I'm a cowboy. I didn't grow up in a city, but rather surrounded by woods and nature. Still, I would never claim to be a rancher or a cowboy.

My question is: is it okay for a European to dress like that?

And if I ever get a chance to travel to the us with my wife and kids will I get shit for it?

Edit: I received the hat today. I will never be hat less untill I die.
