Advice - new to trolling

In NJ, want to try trolling and have always just used spinning reels for bottom, striped, blue. I don’t want to drop 5-10k on gear. Would older penn senators and used trolling poles get the job done? From what I see the main difference is slower retrieval and less accurate drag setting. But they caught big ass fish with this stuff before modern equipment and the fish haven’t changed.

What size reels would you be aiming to get?

Think maybe I Fed this up

Do I need a short shaft? Boston whaler 13, measured the transom and thought it needed the long shaft but prop seems so low.

Also, that stick is very temporary

Edit: Thanks to all, definitely confirmed my suspicions. I’ll get a jack plate. Regarding the hp, it’s for my daughters to learn on and play with, hence the pinkness. I had a 13’ with a 9.9 when I was a kid and it wasn’t speedy but got on plane.

What is this? It’s impossible to split

I realize this isn’t really woodworking but I’ve been splitting wood for years and never came across anything like this. So tough to split along the diameter, took a while to figure out but actually split easier at the grow rings. Took the rounds off the side of the road in NJ

(Broken ax handle was my fault)

Hello, I imagine this is a long shot and apologize if this sort of post is not allowed here. Going camping in north New Jersey (Sussex) next weekend and thought it would be nice to hire an instructor to lead a private class at the campground on Mother’s Day morning.

Not really sure where to start, are there any companies or platforms where I can contact someone for something like this? Maybe just call some local studios to see if someone would like to pick it up?

Any advice would be appreciated, trying to make it a special morning for my wife as she’ll be missing her normal session.
