I’m interested in learning more about these battles. Any good books I should start with?

I know not all out but how hard? Faster then my current 5k pace?

After fighting the urge I gave in a dropped my name in the lottery (should have done it sooner and not have to play the gambling game) for the 250.

In preparation but looking around at training plans and methods and found Kevin Goldberg's plan. Has anyone used this plan or his coaching in general?

I am somewhere between a brand new beginner and someone on the verge of being a intermediate ultra runner, but brand new to 250mi races. Run many 50mi in training or races, tried and failed one 100mi race, signed up for another 100mi this fall.
