How important is the AGM battery (12v) in a Prius?

After driving a second-hand Prius around for seven entire years I just realized that it's supposed to have an AGM auxiliary battery. Obviously it's not the sort thing you can get on the fly so it's not that strange that the previous owner must have replaced the original with a cheap standard car 12volt. It doesn't have a gas outlet hole which is apparently required for a battery that is in the cabin.

Anyway, zero real problems running the cheap battery for seven entire years!

Until now though, but it's just old and worn out. Should I shell out for a more expensive AGM of the type specified? What do you guys think?

Prius model is 2009 (3rd Gen) standard.

We need advice on the problem house in our neighbourhood. Please help!

We live in an area with mixed public and private housing, often on the same street. The commission houses are mostly 1950s brick semi-detached. The tenants are generally nice but unfortunately there is one problem house where they obviously deal heroin.

Every day, all day there's a trickle of battered characters coming to visit. They often line up in the front yard before being let inside one at a time. The house has heavy doors crudely attached to the porch with a peephole, bars on the windows and cctv so they can screen customers. There's a smashed up car and piles of trash in the yard. I's pretty common for motorbikes to be parked blocking the pavement and people getting in and out of cars stopped in the middle of the road.

Most of the customers try and keep a low profile, but there's some with serious mental problems and sometimes untreated medical problems which make them stand out. There's a good amount of random vandalism in the area and petty theft which is probably related. Children also walk past here on their way to school and generally it's a just a real downer to see all this going on.

The police are often at the house. I have seen them personally there several times, but obviously I don't know what exactly is happening. I suspect that because the house is well secured the police can't get inside immediately. I doubt the tenants keep large quantities of drugs there and maybe probably flush what they have if necessary. Maybe someone there gets charged with some minor possession charge or some assault charge or whatever. After the police visit of course the customers stay away but then as the months go by the traffic picks up again.

Most people here including me think that the housing commission needs to step in and get involved. Obviously people do not want to make themselves into targets and houses around here do get their windows broken a lot. So people are understandably very wary about complaining. However as far as I can tell it seems like many different people have contacted the commission about this house. I personally went to the local housing office to try to speak to someone directly but was told this was not allowed and instead I must send an email. I got no response for a full six weeks and then I received a generic message, with an "incident log sheet" attached. I'm reluctant to record a log of incidents I see at this house, because I don't want to be a spy. I also have no faith that the commission is organized enough to protect my identity. And of course I'm doubtful the commission will act on anything I submit.

What I would like is for a senior DFFH officer to visit the house themselves. If they simply parked on the street and watched the house for an hour or two they would realize there is way too much traffic in and out for a normal residence. I was told that houses are inspected only once every five years which seems nuts. People around here generally have the opinion that after first renting the house the commission has almost no involvement.

It's also possible that the DFFH knows very well drug dealing is happening at the house and is allowing it to continue. There are a lot of local theories about why this would be the case.

So I'm hoping to get some advice from someone out there. Someone who maybe rents in a different area, or who works or has worked for the DFFH. Or maybe you can tell me if you have dealt with something similar. Even something vaguely related would be useful at this point.

TLDR - Brazen heroin dealing from commission house in our area. Unclear whether DFFH know about it. Are they tolerating it for some reason? Need advice on how to proceed.
