T490 still hard at work on my tugboat.

Here is our t490, recommended by this subreddit as the toughest old school laptop.

It lives in its dock and its sole purpose is to run Rose Point navigation software. Which is displayed on two marine monitors. The one pictured is the main one in the pilot house. I have another smaller one in the chicken coop.

Here we are loading product at the terminal. Not a single complaint.

EPA shaking down tugs now?

My company received word that we received a summons from the EPA. It originally went to another tug company that has a boat with the same name. I do not have it in my hands yet to read what it says.

Boss says that someone from the EPA observed smoke coming from our stack for more than a certain amount of time. There is picture included. Fine is $200.

Has anyone encountered this?

Lifeboatman exam

I have a kid on my tug that wants to test for AB. So I am looking up the requirements for him.

I see in the CFR they still have some language about an oral exam at the rec.

Back in my day we actually had to lower a 1/5 scale lifeboat at the REC.

Has anyone done the oral exam recently, or if everyone bucking up for a school?
