Any advice for support groups to join?
Context:
A little less than a year ago, I was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder, unspecified. It was later specified as depressive type. The “bizarre” behavior that was present during the initial psychosis is now managed by medication, however, I now struggle with social withdrawal due to sporadic communication issues (freezing mid conversation, losing train of thought, etc.) I am also hesitant to meet new people out of concern that they won’t want to stick around due to my diagnosis and circumstances. All things considered, I understand that it’s better to have minimal communication than none at all.
I recognize that isolation isn’t healthy for anyone. I want to be able to thrive socially, academically, and in the workplace. I know everyone has their limits.. I’m just trying to find mine without feeling immense grief.
I’ll be 23 later this year. I don’t want to spend my life hiding from the world.
If anyone has suggestions for support groups specifically for schizoaffective disorder, please let me know.
