Edinburgh travel ideas
Hi Everyone,
We are leaving next week and will be in Scotland for 8 days. Our homebase will be at a hotel in Dunfermline and will have a rental car. Will also plan to use the train for day trips as well.
I have done a lot of research for our trip but would love to hear from fellow travelers that have been to Edinburgh recently or live there for ideas of places to eat/visit. We are interested in all things historical but also love being in nature. I have been to the Scottish Border area multiple times but have not seen Scotland past Jedburgh.
Some things we are planning to visit:
- Real Mary King's Close tour as well as the Royal Mile
- Dunfermline Abbey
- Stirling Castle
- Roslyn Chapel
- Trip up to loch ness/Balvenie Castle/distillery/Aberdeen (Screenshot)
- Durham Castle and Cathedral (Visiting family nearby)
Also is the planned route in the screenshot below reasonable for a one day trip (~8-9 hrs of total driving) ?
Thanks in Advance!
