Second thoughts on adopting.
We have a chill 5 year old neutered male, and after recently losing our 15 year old (complications from hyperthyroidism), we thought our beautiful boy might enjoy a new friend.
We met a very friendly male (similar age) at a local rescue who seems to have a similar temperament to our boy. In the rescue center, there are many cats and kittens, and he's not phased at all. He's affectionate with people and seems a perfect fit.
We decided to adopt and plan to pick him up in a few days, but now I am getting cold feet. I really don't want to put our boy through the stress of introduction (done slowly, of course), and I am getting hung up on the fact that he's perhaps not 100% healthy. He's recovering from a URI and has been on antibiotics (according to the rescue).
Our plan I'd to go directly to our vet for a check, but I am still worried. Have I made the wrong decision? Is my boy going to be happy solo, or would a friend be better?
