dropping crates onto enemies for fun and profit

this game has been out so long, i'd have to think someone else figured this out, but i'd never read it as a tip or a way to cheese the game before.

have any of you sunk a bunch of points into Telekinesis early on? it turns out the easiest way to kill anything in the game - if you bring a few of those 3000-HP crates with you - is to move those crates. or some of the 600-HP coffins. while there's no BG3 "Throw" mechanic, heavy items moved from a high square to a low square (or even just shifted sideways!) do a HELL of a lot of damage.

it feels a lot like when i figured out that swapping a Lava terrain square for the ground underneath large groups was a Thing.

Wetland Destruction (and Mitigation) at Micron's Clay Site

Dr. Catherine Landis discusses the Micron site in Clay, NY - the recent destruction of hundreds of acres of wetlands, different types of species impacted, and potential mitigation.

It's a longer video, but there's a lot of information about the Micron site packed into it.

To All Those People Who Think Micron is a Good Company

i really hope you never want to actually build a decent home computer ever again.

gotta love that we're going to have to put up with their pollution, traffic, and compete with them for utilities... but we'll never be able to afford their products. and their price fixing is going to make ALL DRAM more expensive.

"That's the end of my presentation. Just money. OK?"

from https://www.facebook.com/people/ForeverChemicals-CNY/61579505173024/

"On the topic of Oak Orchard and the industrial wastewater treatment, um, is it true that there are enforceable PFAS limits in the SPEDES permit?"

"Um... for... Yes."

"OK, thank you."

"Um, and then, just so you guys know, there's money. Just wanna let you guys know there's money out there. That's all. That's the end of my presentation. Just money. OK? For your districts. And then also, stay informed. You know you guys can contact me for anything, OK?"

--

that last just doesn't seem like a good look from the DEC.

you know, at one point i truly trusted the DEC to act in our best interests as a NYer. but i got into this because i posted comments to the DEC during the EIS process asking specifically what PFAS compounds Micron would be using and what the new waste treatment plans would be to measure and capture those contaminants, and i didn't see ANY of that information in the permits. (also the flooding and excess utility use and and and, but i digress-)

IMHO, we can't just blindly trust the DEC to step in between Micron and allowing PFAS chemicals to poison the lot of us.

Ryan McMahon's Hand-picked Group Apparently Deciding the Fate of our Waterways

this is a group that McMahon created in April 2024, and - under its own charter - he appears to be the only member, with all seven directors appointed by him. they held some meetings and then in February 2025 the County Attorney (Durr) said that the project would revert to the county. then, suddenly, this mystery board announced a couple meetings and at the second one - LAST TUESDAY - they announced they were opening negotiations with Kiewit (a contactor) to built the wastewater treatment plant. all without public review or comment.

now that McMahon has vetoed term limits for his position, is there ANY WAY we can get a Democrat with a pulse to run against him? maybe a Democrat that is willing to stand up to Micron and say "Hey, we're not gonna fund a treatment plant for you guys wholesale until you prove to us you're not gonna release a ton of pollutants into our air and water daily"?

--

"A local development board appointed and controlled by Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon voted Tuesday to start contract negotiations with Kiewit Infrastructure to build the plant, which could cost more than $1 billion.

The new plant, located at the Oak Orchard Wastewater Treatment site in Clay, would be the county’s single most expensive project ever."

If You're Concerned About Having a Voice Regarding Micron in CNY

i couldn't get to the event last night, but i heard it was pretty well-attended! if you went, thank you! <3 if you didn't get to go (don't have time to attend events, etc) but you still want information about Neighbors for a Better Micron, general membership is open. just use the QR code above or use the link in the flyer!

joining will mean you receive an email notification about future events; we're looking at having another community event - this time about wetlands/stormwater/flooding - in July.

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdEYt2gWn0w7xvSWh_LlXbbS4W99vkjr92dqBAZTRpm4jXOLQ/viewform

note: joining Neighbors for a Better Micron the organization is not a commitment to the lawsuit, but an affirmation that you're concerned about Micron having a *positive* effect on our community. we're looking to grow the organization so that Central NY's concerns are taken more seriously, whether those concerns are potential pollution of our beautiful waterways, forests, and wetlands, noise and light issues related to construction and operation of the factory, or safe and well-paying jobs for local residents.

PFAS and Air Pollution

any recommendations from the group as to professionals in the NE corridor who have expertise on PFAS manufacturing and air pollution? Either research or abatement, etc?

i've been cross-posting about our group's presentations on PFAS

i wanted to explicitly share this site for people who wanted more information about PFAS and the Great Lakes (specifically Ontario/Canada) ecosystem. a bunch of us are pretty worried about this huge chip factory being built in the middle of a residential/agricultural area under the current federal administration, especially since it's beginning to look like the county development board and state environmental agency don't intend to demand limits on Micron's effluent and airborne PFAS/other toxic chemicals.

please consider signing the petition here, as well.

I still don't have the videos from our event edited for Youtube, but this Facebook post contains a few of the still slides regarding water quality concerns in our region. One of the topics we touched on is the potential long-term impacts on fishing in our rivers, Lake Ontario, and the St Lawrence Seaway.
