Friend and I are going to travel to LA for a long weekend specifically to do lots of escape rooms. We did an amazing trip in Orlando last year and figured the LA market seems to have tons of great options for rooms as well to fill out our days. What are the top companies or absolutely must-do rooms while we’re out there?

I’m looking for puzzle ideas that can be solved without any instructions. Ones that are intuitive or give clear feedback of progress. Specifically I am designing a room where the players will be on an alien ship. For immersion I’d like them to not understand any of the written language and would like them to arrive in the ship and find about 5 puzzles that they can intuitively solve. I’ll provide visual and contextual indicators that a puzzle is solved. But I’m wondering what puzzles you’ve seen and immediately thought “okay I think I understand what needs to be done here”
About 10 rugs in so far. I typically just run it at 1000 or 1200. Tried 1500 and it felt crazy fast. Do people really run it near max speed? Is it just something that takes time to get used to? Any real benefits to learning how to handle a higher speed? Thanks in advance for the tips!
