Finally finished with my driving test journey.
i’ve been a long time lurker here and seeing people’s journey as well as encouragement from everyone has really made an impact on myself so i wanted to share this post.
almost 5 years of journey and it finally paid off! i passed my theory test in October 2021, finished my EDT lessons in August 2023, and since then i’ve had countless hours spent practicing, renewed my learner’s permit twice, booked multiple pretest lessons with different instructors, and 3 failed exams before i finally passed yesterday in Tallaght! looking back on my very first test, it was such a stark comparison from when i first sat my driving test (from 37 grade 2s to just 3 on my last test).
i was so close to giving up too but i think it really goes to show that if you put in the hours, have amazing sponsors/teachers, and have a little bit of luck with your instructor on the day, you’d also be able to pass.
one thing i have to say though was the nerves never went away and it kept me tense & alert all throughout my driving test yesterday. i’m not saying you should follow my footsteps but i think it really did help me in my situation. i hope everyone who’s still on the journey would see this and realise if someone as awful as me could pass then there’s definitely hope for everyone!
