You lot filled our last metal trivia night, so I got another deck printed for tonight

Hey r/brisbane

I’ve posted here a couple of times now about the Early Access Nights I've been hosting on Wednesdays at Evilcorp for Gatekeeper, my upcoming heavy metal trivia game.

A bunch of r/brisbane redditors came out to the last one and the response was super positive, with the night hitting maximum capacity.

I'm hosting another booked out session tonight, and because so many people have been keen to come along, I managed to get another game deck printed just in time thanks to the legends at ePrint Windsor (literally picked it up just yesterday!) so we've got a bunch more free spots available.

For anyone seeing this for the first time, Gatekeeper is an upcoming heavy metal trivia card game with more than 300 multiple-choice questions. It covers everything from Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden and Metallica to Cannibal Corpse, Slipknot, Korn, Gojira and everything in-between. I created it over the course of a year and I'm preparing to launch it Sep 22 on Kickstarter.

The part I’ve enjoyed most has been watching people arrive without knowing anyone, getting introduced to a table and then spending the night talking about metal, testing their knowledge, making friends and getting to know each other. It’s starting to feel like much more than a game test night and more like the beginning of a regular Brisbane metal meetup.

We’ll be at Evilcorp in Fortitude Valley from 6:30 tonight. It’s completely free and you’re welcome to come solo without a team. The game is also multiple choice and designed to be accessible to casual listeners, so you don’t need an encyclopedic knowledge of metal to play.

If you're keen to come along, register your spot here:

I massively appreciate all the support so far Thanks again for helping this grow 🤘,

A bunch of brisbane redditors came to my metal trivia night🤘🏽 so thank you r/ Brisbane

I posted here a few days ago about early access sessions for Gatekeeper, my upcoming heavy metal trivia card game. We had the first one on Wednesday night, and I was blown away by how many people from this subreddit actually came along.

We ended up hitting capacity with three full tables of metalheads meeting each other, playing the game for the first time and having a genuinely great night. There was tonnes of banter, 'UM ACTUALLY' moments and all round good vibes.

It was especially cool seeing everyone from this subreddit who came out for the evening and getting to properly meet you and hangout. A few people have already booked again and are planning to bring friends, which is bloody fantastic.

So I just wanted to come back and say a huge thank you to everyone from this community who took a chance on something made by a local weirdo on the internet and came out to support it. You helped make the night an absolute success and it was genuinely lovely meeting you all.

Cheers 🤘🏽

Ps If you're keen to join the next one, it'll be Wed Aug 19 at Evilcorp 6:30pm link here. It's free to come along, just limited capacity.

Any Brisbane metalheads keen to play a new heavy metal trivia card game? Free game nights every Wednesday at Evilcorp

Hey everyone,

I spent the last year creating Gatekeeper, a heavy metal trivia card game. It's 300 questions and covers the major eras, subgenres plus all the iconic, ridiculous and weird moments of metal history.

Before it launches on Kickstarter, I’m running free early-access game nights every Wednesday at Evilcorp in Fortitude Valley.

They're casual social nights where you can play the game before release, meet other local metalheads and give some feedback on the game before launch.

You can come along or bring friends. Casual listeners and diehard fans are all welcome, it's multiple choice and designed for different levels of knowledge.

The sessions so far have been a tonne of fun with lots of cheeky banter, laughs and people making new friends (as well as becoming super invested in winning 😆).

It's free to join but bookings help me plan tables and numbers.

You can grab a spot here:

Happy to answer any questions in the comments 🤘🏽

Tl:dr I made a heavy metal trivia card game called Gatekeeper, hosting free weekly game nights every Wednesday at Evilcorp Fortitude to preview it before launching on Kickstarter Sep 22

I got sick of waiting for someone to make a metal trivia game, so I made one myself

About a year ago I realised something kind of insane.

Metal fans love trivia, board games and arguing about music history. But for some reason

there are no modern heavy metal trivia games.

So I made one.

Fast forward a year, hundreds of questions and moments of 'wtf have I done?' later, and now

I’m putting it out!

It’s called Gatekeeper: a heavy metal trivia card game with 300+ questions covering bands, albums, subgenres, metal history, weird lore and all the ridiculous stuff you uncover when

you’re deep in metal wiki pages at 2am.

I just finished a video showing the whole process taking it from that beginning idea to a physical prototype, you can check it out here.

I'm launching a kickstarter campaign in September to bring the game to life so I'm trying to share it with as many metalheads as possible. 🤘🏽

If you had one crazy piece of lore you wanted in a metal trivia game, what would it be?
