Broke off, need to vent

This morning I was fishing a wake walker from throwback. After an hour or so it disappeared and what felt like my biggest bass of the summer was on the end of my line. What ensued was a calamity of errors. My drag wasn’t set, I was in the middle of a candy bar, and it was dark. The body of water I was fishing has this fake island for birds or ducks or some shit. Never paid attention to it. By the time I threw my candy bar and adjusted my drag the fish had found the only anchor cable, wrapped and broke off.
Losing an expensive bait sucks but it’s part of the game. The thing that is really upsetting is the reality of a bass that was on its way to lunker status swimming around with a 2.5 oz resin bait in its mouth and probably dying. Just a bummer morning all around

Frogs. The second plague

Opened my garage to go to work and baby toads rushed in like it was Black Friday. It’s almost impossible to walk to my van without crushing them. I’ve never seen this. Is this a sign we are in the final days, or is it a one off curse on my house?
