The Odyssey — PVR Priya IMAX vs PVR Cinemagic PXL: My experience after watching it in both

The Odyssey

I watched The Odyssey at both PVR Priya IMAX and PVR Cinemagic PXL. Both were excellent, but I noticed some interesting differences.

Screen:

Both looked fantastic. Priya was a little brighter, and the dark scenes looked especially good.

Priya IMAX: 9.5/10

PXL: 8.5/10

Sound:

This is where Priya stood out for me. The sound had excellent depth and separation. In scenes with swords moving or arrows/bows being thrown, you could clearly tell where the sound was coming from. It felt very precise and immersive.

Sound separation:

Priya — 10/10

PXL — 8/10

Dialogue was also louder and clearer at Priya. PXL was still very good, but slightly lower in dialogue volume.

Bass:

Surprisingly, PXL wins this one for me.

The bass had much more punch and physical impact. During the heavy bass moments, you could actually feel the vibration. It was almost earth-shaking.

Bass:

Priya — 9/10

PXL — 10/10

What surprised me is that I expected Priya IMAX to have the stronger overall sound experience, especially with the bass, but PXL actually delivered the harder-hitting low end.

Also, as far as I understand, the non-IMAX DCP is 5.1 rather than Atmos, which makes the PXL bass performance even more interesting.

Both have very comfortable seats, and PXL in 2D is genuinely an amazing experience.

Overall for me:

🏆 Priya IMAX — 9.5/10

PXL — 8.5/10

Priya wins overall because of the sound depth, separation and dialogue clarity. But if you're looking specifically for bass impact, PXL surprised me big time.

Has anyone else watched The Odyssey at both? Curious if you noticed the same difference in bass.

In July I watched 6 movies across different cinemas

In July I watched 6 movies across different cinemas in Delhi NCR, and I thought I'd share my experience for anyone looking for the best screens.

Movies & cinemas:

The Baby Do Die Do – PVR Shalimar Bagh

Furiosa – PVR Vegas

The Odyssey – Miraj Maximum, Gurgaon

The Odyssey – PVR Cinemagic PXL, NSP

Evil Dead Burn – PVR Cinemagic PXL

Attack on Titan: The Last Attack – PVR Cinemagic Audi 2

Spider-Man: Brand New Day (3D) – PVR Cinemagic PXL

My thoughts

PVR Shalimar Bagh The weakest experience of the month. Nothing stood out in terms of picture or sound.

PVR Vegas Decent overall. A good cinema, but nothing exceptional.

Miraj Maximum, Gurgaon One of my favorite experiences. Big scope screen, immersive presentation, and a great auditorium.

PVR Cinemagic PXL, NSP This was the biggest surprise. The picture quality was sharp, the sound was powerful with excellent bass and surround separation, and The Odyssey sounded phenomenal here. It genuinely feels like one of the best premium non-IMAX screens in Delhi NCR.

That said, I did notice a few presentation issues, including faint vertical streaks during bright scenes. If PVR fixes those, I honestly think this could become the best non-IMAX cinema in the region.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day (3D) Really enjoyable in PXL. Brightness was good enough for 3D, picture quality held up well, and the sound remained clear and immersive.

Overall, July reminded me why I still love going to the cinema. Every auditorium has its strengths, but when the presentation is done right, nothing beats watching a great film on a big screen.

What are your favorite cinema screens in Delhi NCR? I'd love to hear your recommendations.

Spider man brand new day PXl NSP

I watched Spider-Man: Brand New Day today at PVR Cinemagic PXL in 3D, and it was honestly one of the best 3D experiences I've had.

The display is bright, the colours really pop, and the sound is excellent. The 3D depth feels immersive without being distracting.

The only minor issue I noticed was a slight alignment mismatch, IT didn't affect my enjoyment or take away from the experience.

If you're planning to watch it in 3D, I'd definitely recommend PVR Cinemagic PXL. It's one of the best 3D presentations I've experienced.
