Im not trying to drag any authors on here at all, cuz I know 99% of the time what im about to say isn't the case. But im just wondering if anyone else has noticed an influx of fics that read like they are AI generated? I dont know of im going crazy, but i just read 2 fics this week that read like they are atleast partly generated or maybe the authors just write in tje same style as AI? I know alot of AI platforms stole off ao3 authors so its defo possible im just crazy. But it just keeps nagging at me.

I recently read a fic where the main character was asking for the other characters colour as a safe word every few sentences and it just seemed like alot and written by somone or an AI...that doesnt understand how that stuff works. Especially when it was used in a non BDSM context for literally the most random things in the fic the whole way through and half the tike it didnt make sense and looked like something a bot would generate and youd be like, wth?

Another one i read where the characters never finished their sentences. Like it was always like this.

"You didnt-"

"I know"

"But-"

"I know-"

"No you dont-"

"I told you i-"

...like it was obviously not this i just made somthing up as an example, but eveytime the characters talked they always got cut off by the other character and they would respond like they were a mind reader and its always written that they 'communicated without words'. Like thats somthing straight out of a character AI chat somone uploaded as a fic.

Im not trying to be mean or rude, im just wondering is its something anyone else has noticed recently.

Edit: also just wanted to say that im not trying to acuse anyone of using ai for their fics! Its just something ive noticed coming up recently. Simple explanation is that there are new writers that have a similar style, tone and pattern to generative AI as its literally everywhere and steals from authors, doenst mean they are using it, its just what they are exposed too. Only reason I was bring it up is because after being on ao3 for 9 years ive just seen this pop up more and more recently. But again, I might be going crazy lol!

Basically for my end of year show for Alevels i have made a series of A1 charcol forest drawings (not going to show it incase i get in trouble with college lol) ans im planning to put it in an instalation space for the show that goes on at the end of the academic year. I wanted the vibe to be isolated, foggy and lonely which i belive i achevied with the drawing, but now i need to also use sense of smell and sound to further create that emersive atmosphere.

However, due to just doing everything last minute, i have till the end of this week to atleast gather the materials for said smell and sound so i can refrence it in my sketchbook. It doesnt need to be complete as i can work on it whilst prepping my show space, but basically i have a week.

I really need help identifying what i could use to create a smell in the space. I thought of a humidifier but i wasnt sure if the steam/fog it puts off would be out of place. And i also have no idea where i would find oils that smell like damp moss or wood or cold forest smells. I also thought about litterally using moss and wood, i have moss i can use (i have some for my plants) but i the smell is realky faint and the wood wouldnt be much better. Basically i just need some suggestions on what I can use for these smells. Any help is appreciated!!

I think ill be okay with the sound part, ill just go out early hours of the morning or late at night to a woody park area and record some sounds. Though im not sure how I would play it, maybe a speaker? Worried about it disrupting other class mates peices though.

Also for reference ill have an enclosed, U shape display space made with roughly 6,5 ft boards lengthwise. Not sure about with but its about 1 1/2 A1 paper landscape if that helps lmao.
