Feel like I’m at a crossroad. Do I coastFIRE? Do I keep grinding?

37f, single, no kids, rent.

I make anywhere from $200-$400k/ year (I own a business in a somewhat volatile industry)

NW approx 1.5mil
VHCOL city
$600k invested with Vanguard
$50k play money on Robinhood
$850k HYSA (I know this is high. I frequently have to front anywhere from $100-$500k for jobs, sometimes multiple at the same time. And I have been casually looking for a condo or house to buy.)

Rent 3k
Office 600
Utilities range from 200-600
Food prob 1k+
Health insurance 400
Car insurance 200
Other spending probably 3k/month (travel, clothes, etc)
No debt

I currently don’t budget much and more or less do what I want. I am not a lavish person, but I eat out frequently, travel when I want to, and don’t think about money much

I like the work that I do, but it is tiring and stressful. But I also hate working a 9-5. Does anyone actually coast and are you happy with your life?

I still have other dreams and professional goals that would require significant investment (maybe $300k) but I’m starting to wonder if I really need to strive for them. Should I just invest most of my money and coast?

I feel I am at an existential crossroad

Thanks for your insight

AIO over party invite?

I (32f) have been dating “Ron” (32m) for about 3 months. He has a bff who I had never met but heard a lot about. The bff’s wife was having a party and invited ron but not me. Their apartment is small and ron said they didn’t have enough space. I tell him it’s ok, I understand. A few days before the party, ron says why don’t we grab dinner with bff and his wife. We go to their place for dinner, things go fine. The apartment is also not small. I am half expecting an invite since we’ve all formally met, but it never comes. That’s fine.

The day before the party, ron asks me to bake a cake for it. I politely decline. Day of party. Ron goes to party. unprompted he sends me a picture from it, there are like 4 people there. Internally I absolutely blow up but I just responded saying oh crazy party, sarcastically. He says I knew you were going to react that way. When he gets back, he says it was kind of lame and he didn’t feel like he belonged there.

We argue a bit about it, and he brings up how I didn’t make a good impression at the dinner and that I didn’t ask them enough questions, which is not my recollection of the evening, and that it didn’t go well and he felt really uncomfortable. I asked him what they said about me and he says they didn’t say anything. So I ask how he knows I didn’t make a good impression and he says he knows his friend. Idk why but something in me just snapped and we’ve been fighting about it for 2 days now. He says I’m overreacting. AIO?

Also, I suggested inviting bff and his wife over to cook dinner for them and he said he didn’t think that was a good idea.

How aggressive to be once WBAT

Had orif for bimalleolar fractures syndesmosis injury 6 weeks ago. 2 weeks in splint, 4 in cast, NWB the entire time. Got my cast off yesterday and into a boot; PT said I can bear weight as tolerated. I have had little to no pain the entire recovery. Wondering how fast is too fast. I am walking in the boot with crutches; have selectively put all my weight on my bad leg for a few seconds with no pain. Just did some glute bridges w/o the boot; no pain. Is this moving too fast or is it truly as tolerated? Doing the other exercises and stretches that the PT assigned, as well as non weight bearing exercises on the mat (glute bridge was the first weight bearing exercise I’ve tried)

Hope everyone’s healing is going well!

Post op splint is SO heavy

Hi all, just started my recovery journey.. had a displaced fracture on my distal fibula; surgery this past Monday. Everything went well, pain has been manageable. But the splint (“big Bertha”) is so heavy and it’s freaking me out. I’ve been elevating 22-23 hours a day, but every time I get up (which is rarely) I feel like the sheer weight of the splint is pulling on my ankle. Is this normal? I sent a message to my surgeon’s office and a PA called back and basically said yes the splint is extremely heavy. Just want to make sure I’m not causing further injury.

Thanks to all; reading through everyone else’s threads has been really helpful this past week.
