Leather hotdog

Just finished this leather hotdog, pretty simple design but needed a pencil case!

Falco Tannery Goatskin at .8mm in tan and dark green

Alran Chevre Capri for lining at .6mm.
Really love the shimmer, hard to capture with a phone camera

0.4mm SHC reinforcement

Used 1mm leather cord for piping

Size 8 brass zipper, I love a chunkier zipper in general

Hand stitched at 4mm diamond irons with vinymo 5 in white for outers and 5mm spacing with navy thread on the inside.

Dimensions about 200mm long, 60mm
wide and tall. About 130g

Latest little work bag

Earlier this year I posted a bag made of chevre goatskin but wasn’t completely happy with how it came out (last picture). I used salpa for reinforcement and it altered the hand feel of the bag. Didn’t love the size 3 riri zipper either, too small for my taste and use.

Changed the pattern a bit and used microfiber this time, pretty happy with how it turned out!

Chevre at .9mm
Microfiber at .4mm
Calfskin lining at .7mm
Raccagni zipper size 8, love a good chunky zipper
Ritza white .6mm for outer stitching and vinymo 5 for inner
Fenice edge paint throughout
3mm leather cord

Oval/bean shaped bag was about 200g, this new rectangle bag is about 260g. Dimensions are; 8.5 inches long, 5 inches tall and 4 inches wide

What’s everyone working on this week?

Working on this little toiletry kit type of bag. Didn’t get too cute with the pattern so it’s just a simple rectangle without any taper to the gussets.

Wanted to practice adding body and dimension to bags by using techniques like gluing on a curve, reinforcement and lining. Can always use more zipper practice as well!

Materials being used/nerdy details

Sepici dollaro in red, about 1.3mm
Calf skin royal blue .8mm
Microfiber .4mm
Zipper #8 size, nickel finish
The usual 4mm diamond spacing with my fave chubby ritza .6mm, will use vinymo blue for assembly and to keep interior monotone

Airpod Cases

These are my little therapy builds at this point 😂

Tried some new things this time around. Creasing and using thinner leather plus reinforcement.

Salpa .4mm for the lid section and microfiber .4mm for the gusset. Lining leather js .4mm.

Swift and togo are .6mm.

Designed to fit airpod pro 2 and 3 cases!

Badge reel holders

Just finished these, pretty happy with how they came out.

Used salpa .4mm and calfskin .4mm as my reinforcements for each panel. Made a huge difference in overall feel and kept the final product thin and lightweight. About 2.8mm total thickness (the mosaic one I have been using was about 6.4mm 😅, 4th picture).

Togo (black pebbled) and swift leathers. Ritza .6mm and 4mm diamond spacing. Fenice edge paint. 7.5mil mylar for the id window.

Wish I took pictures of the pink one under natural light, it’s such a gorgeous colour!

Reworked a pattern for a work bag and trying out a bunch of different supplies in preparation for a bigger bag down the road.

Using ecostick 1816b and 1830, really impressed. Like it a bit better than Renia Aquilium 315. Glad I can throw out my solvent cements!

Also swapping out salpa for microfiber, love the body and feel of the bag so far. Found that salpa wrinkled in ways I didn’t love, probably saving it for wallets or more flat projects.

Lastly, swapping out leather cord for plastic cord for piping. Saves on weight, no issues so far.
