The fluffiest hummie cheeks I've ever seen.
First, part duck. Now, part turkey with fluffy bloomers.

Meet Splash. She is a new little cutie in my backyard who is obsessed with water and much lighter colored than all the other babies I've had this year. I wanted to get ya'lls opinion on if you think she's just a light colored Annas or if she could be a juvenile female black-chinned hummingbird? 99% of my birds are Anna's, but I do have one female black-chinned who visits periodically
Some of you know I had to take my fountain down after a community cat was going after our birds. After several weeks of cat deterrent efforts (spike mats, cat repellent, elevating the bird bath with cinder blocks, and surrounding the bird bath with cactus), it's back up. She arrived before I had a chance to turn it on this morning and she is just doing her best!
Hi everyone! Just wanted to let yall know if anyone is still looking for the hair salon plush pendants the pop mart in valley fair has them in stock and on the floor!
The audacity of any other hummingbird to even think about entering into our yard.
This morning I was reviewing footage on my camera and saw a neighborhood cat (does not belong to me and I do not feed it) swipe a finch off the fountain. I watched where the cat went afterwards and found the remnants of at least two finches, no hummingbirds from what I could tell. This cat has been around since we moved in several years ago but has decided it likes our backyard since our dog died. I am so devastated, this fountain has brought me so much joy during a time in my life that has been filled with grief. I guess if anyone has any suggestions of how to keep the cat out that would be helpful. Ugh.
Absolutely no sharing!
This made me laugh out loud when I was watching the playback this morning! Yooooink!
The hummingbirds and bushtits seem to have strong feelings about sharing. Today the bushtits are victorious.
I've never seen two birds look so irritated about taking turns but I'm so proud of them! I cannot believe our big male decided to be nice!
What i believe to be a female black chinned hummingbird at my feeder in San Jose, CA. If you listen closely you can hear her distinct squeak versus the typical Anna's "chirp"
This is the first time they have ever shared the fountain!
