What determines Vanguard's ETF registration countries in Europe?

I came across Vanguard's Registered country information and did some analysis of the countries where it registers its funds and ETFs, considering whether each country is a member of the EU and/or the Eurozone.

Registered in the following countries (21):

  • Austria
  • Denmark
  • Finland
  • France
  • Germany
  • Guernsey
  • Iceland
  • Ireland
  • Isle of Man
  • Italy
  • Jersey
  • Liechtenstein
  • Luxembourg
  • Netherlands
  • Norway
  • Poland
  • Portugal
  • Spain
  • Sweden
  • Switzerland
  • United Kingdom

Of the above registered countries, the following are not members of the EU (8):

  • Guernsey
  • Iceland
  • Isle of Man
  • Jersey
  • Liechtenstein
  • Norway
  • Switzerland
  • United Kingdom

The following EU members, but not Eurozone members, are registered (3):

  • Denmark
  • Poland
  • Sweden

The following Eurozone members are registered (10):

  • Austria
  • Finland
  • France
  • Germany
  • Ireland
  • Italy
  • Luxembourg
  • Netherlands
  • Portugal
  • Spain

Not registered

The following EU members, but not Eurozone members, are NOT registered (3):

  • Czech Republic
  • Hungary
  • Romania

The following Eurozone members are NOT registered (11):

  • Belgium
  • Bulgaria
  • Croatia
  • Cyprus
  • Estonia
  • Greece
  • Latvia
  • Lithuania
  • Malta
  • Slovakia
  • Slovenia

My comments

  • Belgium not getting registered was surprising, as it's a part of Eurozone, home to many EU institutions and a strong economy. Anyone might know why?
  • Greece (my home country) is also not registered, but I recently noticed that all Vanguard ETFs have been added to the Hellenic Capital Market Commission list of EU UCITS Marketed in Greece. Also all their ETF KIDs got translated into Greek. So, could this be considered a form of registration?

By what criteria do you think Vanguard prioritizes the countries in which it registers its funds and ETFs?

How do you compare Euro government bond UCITS ETFs beyond JustETF?

I would like to invest in bond UCITS ETFs in Euro currency, Eurozone governments only, accumulating.

Browsing JustETF, I can see that there are about 30 of them (that are not too new and also have AUM over 100m). Problem is that, compared to searching for equity ETFs, JustETF doesn't have much bond specific attributes to rank by. For example it doesn't list Average YTM, effective duration, and other bond specific information. It only has a duration filter with a few years range options.

My question is: Apart from investigating the prospectus of each of the 30 ETFs, is there some other website or has any redditor done a similar comparison in the past?

Also, before anyone suggest it, I don't want to invest in individual bonds, because of tax reasons. I already have invested in some 6-month T-bills of my country's government (tax free), but I would like to diversify to the rest of the Eurozone countries and also increase the duration. My investing horizon is 15y, so I'm looking at 5-7 year duration ETFs.

Thanks
